Aquascutum Active

Aquascutum at Rackhams

Aquascutum, meaning “water shield” in Latin, was founded by John Emary in 1851 as a tailor shop in Mayfair. From its inception, the brand has been defined by its dedication to fine craftsmanship and technical innovation. Just two years after opening, Emary developed and patented the world’s first waterproof fabric.

Aquascutum Active draws inspiration from the achievements of New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary, who used Aquascutum fabric during his historic ascent of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. Although not in a trendy trench coat, Hillary relied on Aquascutum’s specially designed fabric, capable of withstanding 100mph winds.
