Each coaster is handcrafted from solid mahogany wood and coloured using a traditional batik technique, where an intricate design is carefully waxed by a batik artist before the wood is dyed. Once the wax is removed, the batik pattern and natural wood texture are revealed, then sealed and polished to ensure the coaster is food safe.

Named “Mekar” (meaning bloom in Javanese), the design takes inspiration from flowers blooming in unlikely places.
