For quilters who want a substantial reference library on screen, The Electric Quilt Company BlockBase+ software brings together over 4,000 pieced quilt blocks in one organised digital resource. Available for both Windows and Mac, it combines Barbara Brackman’s research from the third edition of the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns with practical tools for searching, printing, exporting and layout previewing.

BlockBase+ includes 4,264 blocks arranged across categories including One Patch, Non-Square, Fans, Wheels and Stars. Search options cover Brackman ID, keyword, source and category, while printing tools allow a picture of the block, templates, rotary cutting chart or foundation pattern in a chosen size with adjustable seam allowance. An interactive print preview supports moving and rotating pattern pieces, and each printout includes a 1-inch scale square. The software also exports low- or high-resolution PNG, JPG and SVG files, and offers seven pre-designed quilt layout previews. Electric Quilt Software is not required, though EQ8 owners can link it if they wish.
