History of British Boxers
Founder and owner, Deborah Price, named British Boxers in honour of her great, great, great grandfather – first World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Jem Mace. ‘I’d worked as a buyer for years in London, but I wanted a business of my own that would provide a new generation of discerning customers with great British design, comfort and luxury. I wanted to produce as much as possible in the UK, and I wanted to revisit the idea of simple things – nightwear, loungewear and underwear – being impeccably made; with perfect seams, the finest fabrics and classic tailoring. What could be a better mix? I loved the idea of my highly irreverent, three-times-great-grandfather fighting all over the world to gain his title, so I mirrored his fight. I left my job with £4,000 in the bank and set up my business’.
British Boxers has gone on to supply John Lewis, Joules, Harrods, independent department stores, gentlemen’s outfitters, lingerie shops, and we now export worldwide. We also produce private-label collections for shops on London’s exclusive Jermyn Street, Marylebone High Street and Kensington High Street.
