London Transport history meets seaside service in this Corgi diecast model of AEC Routemaster RM 848, later operated by Blackpool Transport as fleet number 522. New to London Transport in 1961, the bus began service at Edmonton garage before moving to Wood Green, remaining in the capital fleet until withdrawal in 1985. It then entered Blackpool service in 1986 as one of thirteen Routemasters acquired by Blackpool Transport, working Route 12 from Squires Gate Airport to the St Annes borough boundary, before moving to the promenade service on Route 55 and later Route 40 from Blackpool Tower to Pontin’s Holiday Camp.
The story continues through a Pontin’s all-over advertisement livery between 1991 and 1993, withdrawal in 1994, and subsequent sales including a return to London Transport for refurbishment in 2000, running until 2005 before re-registration into private ownership. Finished in red, this 1:76 scale (00 gauge) model is made for adult collectors.
