Growing tips

• Position in bright, indirect sunlight
• Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh midday sunlight, which may scorch the fronds
• Grow in well-drained, moisture-retentive houseplant compost
• Water when the upper layer of compost begins to feel dry
• Keep the compost lightly moist during active growth without allowing it to become waterlogged
• Ensure excess water drains freely and never leave the roots sitting in standing water
• Maintain moderate to high indoor humidity
• Keep in a warm indoor location away from cold draughts, radiators and sudden temperature changes
• Feed occasionally during spring and summer with a diluted balanced houseplant fertiliser
• Use rainwater or filtered water where practical if mineral-rich tap water causes leaf-tip browning
• Reduce watering during the cooler winter months
• Monitor occasionally for common indoor palm pests, including spider mites and mealybugs

Care

Remove completely brown or damaged fronds using clean pruning tools, and rotate the plant occasionally to encourage balanced growth.
