Hornby recreates a landmark Southern Railway steam locomotive with this 1:76 scale model of Merchant Navy class 21C1 ‘Channel Packet’. Ready-to-run straight out of the box, it’s a considered choice for model railway layouts and collections focused on British operation, finished in SR company markings.
The prototype entered service in 1941 and began its working life at Salisbury before moving to Exmouth Junction in 1942. Renumbered under British Railways in 1948 as 35001, it later transferred to Stewarts Lane from 1957 and underwent rebuilding in 1959. This model is equipped with DCC sound and steam functions, bringing added atmosphere to running sessions, and it is best suited to 438mm radius curves.
