Hornby Mk4 Standard Coach F LNER 12330

Introduced for the newly electrified East Coast Main Line, the Hornby Mk4 Standard Coach F LNER 12330 represents the Mk4 coaching stock built at Metro-Cammell’s Washwood Heath factory between 1989 and 1992. Mk4 coaches brought notable changes over the earlier Mk3 design, including push-button operated plug-type doors, fully sealed gangways and a designed top speed of 140mph.

Entering service in 1989, the fleet later passed to Evershot Rail Group following privatisation in 1996 and has been leased to successive InterCity East Coast franchise operators, including Great North Eastern Railway (GNER), National Express East Coast, East Coast, Virgin Trains East Coast and London North Eastern Railway (LNER). A refurbishment programme carried out by Bombardier Transportation between October 2003 and November 2005, under contract from GNER, introduced new seating arrangements and onboard Wi‑Fi as part of ‘Project Mallard’.
