Issey Miyake launched L’eau d’Issey in 1990 as a floral aquatic fragrance for women. Issey Miyake thought about creating a perfume that was "as clear as spring water", combining the spray of a waterfall, the fragrance of flowers, and the scent of springtime forest. L'Eau d'Issey achieved an enormous popularity, especially in the United States in the 1990s. It was created by Jacques Cavallier.

Top notes: Lotus, freesia, melon, rose water, cyclamen, calone and rose.

Heart notes: Lily-of-the-valley, water peony, lily and carnations.

Base notes: Musk, amber, sandalwood, cedar, osmanthus, tuberose and exotic woods.
