Synopses

The Runs of Gorlan

Will is chosen for a new path: to become the kingdom’s eyes and ears. His training focuses on moving silently and working in the shadows.

The Burning Bridge

Will’s progress is strong, but a serious test approaches. The kingdom’s peace is threatened by Morgarath, who has remained beyond the impassable mountains.

The Icebound Land

Will is kidnapped by a wolfship captain and held aboard a vessel bound for Skandia. He must rely on his friends as he faces an uncertain fate in the icebound land.

Oakleaf Bearers

The fourth book in the series sees Evanlyn taken captive by a mysterious horseman. The story continues within John Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice world.

The Sorcerer in the North

Will becomes a full Ranger with a fief of his own to protect. His new land is already under threat.

The Siege of Macindaw

A renegade knight seizes Castle Macindaw, poisons the royal family and plots to overthrow the kingdom. Will and his friend Horace must act, while someone Will loves is held hostage inside the castle.

Erak's Ransom

After an uneasy truce with the Skandians, news arrives that their leader has been captured by a dangerous desert tribe. The Rangers, including Will, are sent to rescue him, facing sandstorms, relentless heat and uncertain alliances where little is as it seems.

The Kings of Clonmel

Surrounding kingdoms fall under the influence of a religious cult spreading confusion and rebellion. Will, Halt and Horace must confront the threat in Clonmel as secrets are revealed and battles are fought.

Halt's Peril

The outlaw group known as the Outsiders has been conning people across kingdoms. Will and Halt are ambushed by assassins, and when Halt is struck by a poisoned arrow, Will must search for Malkallam the Sorcerer to find a cure.

The Emperor of Nihon-Ja

Horace travels to Nihon-Ja and is drawn into a conflict as the emperor is forcibly overthrown. Horace, Will and their companions attempt to restore the emperor, with the outcome and the journey home uncertain.

The Lost Stories

A collection of stories created in response to readers’ questions about the fate and origins of characters and storylines. It includes previously unpublished pieces featuring characters from Will and Halt to Horace and Alyss.

The Royal Ranger

The series closes with Will reflecting on how far he has come since childhood dreams of knighthood. After a tragic battle leaves him grim and alone, he must take on an apprentice and earn the trust of an unexpected new companion.
