Johnny Cash 'Songwriter' 2CD

Johnny Cash Songwriter is a limited 2CD edition built around a set of self-penned recordings made in early 1993 at LSI Studios in Nashville, during a period between contracts. The songs were recorded as songwriting demos and later shelved after Cash met producer Rick Rubin and began a new recording partnership.

Thirty years later, John Carter Cash revisited the material and, with co-producer David “Fergie” Ferguson, worked from Cash’s vocals and acoustic guitar. The sessions brought in musicians who played with Cash, including guitarist Marty Stuart, bassist Dave Roe and drummer Pete Abbott, with work taking place at the Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, Tenn. Disc two adds a greatest hits selection.
