What is 18/10 Stainless Steel?

When investing in stainless steel cookware, you want 18/10 stainless steel as it is more durable and will retain its good looks. 18/10 stainless steel includes 18% chromium and 10% nickel. The chrome provides hardness and rust resistance. The nickel is very resistant to rust, corrosion, and stains, so it adds to the durability of the pot and provides an enduring shine. Stainless steel that is just 18/0 may be a lower price, but it will be less resistant to rust and will not retain a polished finish.

Use & Care

  • Remove all packaging and peel off any labels before wetting the pot, then use hot, soapy water and a soft cloth to remove any residue.
  • Hand wash and dry the pot and lid before first use. Try to match the diameter of the pot to the ring on the hob.
  • For normal soiling, use ordinary detergent.
  • For intensive soiling, scale, and/or discoloration, use a chromium steel cleaner - e.g. SWISS CLEANER.
  • The pot's surface can be damaged with abrasive cleaners and dishwashers.
  • Dishwasher suitable, washing by hand is recommended.
  • If washed regularly in the dishwasher, synthetic fittings may lose their shine, and aluminium may oxidize or corrode.
  • Never remove food stuck to the pan with sharp objects such as knives, steel wool, or scourers (scratches).
  • Limescale can also be easily removed with vinegar or lemon juice.
