Synopsis

Clear, challenging and designed to encourage experimentation, this book sets out 65 abstract painting projects that can be started immediately, with no previous experience required. It opens with essential guidance on picture elements, composition, theme and design, alongside an exploration of what abstract painting can mean and why it matters as a form of self-expression and creativity.

Instead of rigid step-by-step lessons, each exercise provides direction through method, materials, technique, composition, imagery and structure, helping you work towards a finished piece while leaving space for personal interpretation. With 200 colour illustrations, it is suited to anyone looking to explore abstract art through hands-on practice.
