Pulp Different Class is the band’s fifth studio album, originally released in October 1995, presented here on LP as a black vinyl pressing. The title was inspired by Jarvis Cocker during Smashing, a club night that ran in the early 1990s at Eve's Club on Regent Street in London.
The phrase came from a friend who used “different class” to describe something “in a class of its own”. Cocker adopted the double meaning, with allusions to the British social class system, a theme reflected in some of the songs on the album.
