The Aghora Trilogy by Robert E. Svoboda is a three-volume set centred on the spiritual teachings, experiences and insights of Vimalananda, an esoteric practitioner of the ancient discipline of Aghora. Across the trilogy, the focus remains on human nature and the struggle for spiritual purification, presenting Aghora in relation to spirituality and faith.

The collection also examines Aghora as “super-tantra”, described as a Path of Devotion to the Great Mother Goddess Kundalini, shown here through the name and image of the Goddess Tara. In the concluding volume, the Bombay racetrack becomes a metaphor for the ultimate game of life, bringing together figures from the racecourse to reflect the field of karma and the connection between external reality and creative spirituality.

Included titles

  • Aghora: At the Left Hand of God (Volume I)

Synopses

Aghora: At the Left Hand of God (Volume I)

This volume gathers spiritual wisdom drawn from Vimalananda’s experiences. It records his insights into human nature and the struggle for spiritual purification, while placing the practice of Aghora alongside spirituality and faith.

Aghora: Kundalini (Volume II)

Here, Aghora is presented as “super-tantra”, described as a Path of Devotion to the Great Mother Goddess Kundalini, manifesting with the name and image of the Goddess Tara. It is portrayed as a way of extremes and intensities, intended to destroy human limitations.

Aghora: The Law of Karma (Volume III)

The final volume uses the Bombay racetrack as a metaphor for the ultimate game of life, where destinies and fortunes are forged or lost. It weaves together favourites and outsiders, jockeys and trainers, owners and “rail-birds”, linking the external reality of the racecourse with the subtle internal reality of creative spirituality.
