Rich in process as well as appearance, the Batik Ying Garden of Thoughts wall art brings together collaborative mark-making and traditional Malaysian batik technique in a framed original artwork. Created by Batik Ying in August 2023, the piece is made using wax and painted with Procion MX dye on 100% cotton fabric, with golden words appearing to glow through the lantern motif.

Developed during a live batik session in collaboration with Great Western Arcade, this original work reflects thoughts and hopes for Birmingham gathered from guests at the event. Presented in a black frame, Batik Ying Garden of Thoughts offers a distinctive focal point for a living room, hallway or study, with a layered composition that combines text, colour and batik detail.
