Finished in Maroon ‘B’, this Corgi Morris Minor Convertible captures a late-production example of the open-top Minor in 1:43 scale. The car modelled was built at Morris’ Cowley Plant on 3 January 1969 and despatched on 7 January to Morris’ London agent, Stewart and Ardern Limited of Morris House, Acton. Maroon ‘B’ was introduced in 1968, with the last Convertible in this shade made in June 1969.
The real car was completely rebuilt in 2005 by Morris Minor specialist Charles Ware of Bristol. During restoration it was fitted with a 1275cc version of the original 1098cc BMC A-Series engine, connected to a Ford Type-9 5-speed gearbox, with uprated brakes. Produced as a limited edition of 1152, this detailed diecast vehicle is intended for adult collectors aged 14+.
