Coastal seascape wall print of Northumberland’s shoreline
This lighthouse photograph by Rick Bowden captures the Northumberland coast at first light, as dawn settles over the rocks and shallow water near St Mary’s, just outside Whitley Bay. Taken at sunrise, the long exposure smooths the surface of the sea, allowing the sky’s early tones to stretch gently across the frame. The shoreline appears calm and measured, with low rocks anchoring the foreground and the open water drawing the eye towards the horizon.
About this photographic art
The image is grounded in place and time – the North East coast of England at daybreak – yet the composition remains uncluttered and balanced, making it a quietly confident example of British coastal photography. We also feature several other St Mary’s prints within our lighthouse photography collection, offering alternative views and light conditions from the same iconic Northumberland location. One of which is also from Rick Bowden and is called Path to St Mary's Lighthouse.
Where to hang your artwork
This coastal sunrise print works particularly well in spaces where light and openness are already part of the design. It suits living rooms with neutral palettes, bedrooms where calm, understated imagery is preferred, and home offices that benefit from a sense of visual depth without distraction. The wide expanse of sky and water also makes it a strong choice for hallways or stairwells, where horizontal compositions can elongate the space and add a subtle focal point.
Materials & print finish
This photographic wall art is available as a traditional framed print, a canvas print, or a contemporary acrylic print. Each option is made to order by a professional print team using high-quality materials selected for clarity, longevity, and accurate colour reproduction.
Framed prints use sustainably sourced wood frames and Perspex glazing for a clean, refined finish. Canvas prints are produced using 12-colour Giclée printing and stretched over deep, kiln-dried timber frames for a crisp, gallery-style presentation. Acrylic prints are face-mounted to high-gloss acrylic, enhancing depth and light reflection while remaining sleek and modern. A range of sizes is available to suit different interiors – need a different sized print? Contact us for a custom order.
Each purchase supports our team of photographers, allowing them to keep creating thoughtful coastal wall art like this for your space.
Sustainability Promise
Our prints are produced using water-based, eco-conscious inks, responsibly sourced framing materials, and carefully considered packaging to reduce unnecessary plastic wherever possible.
Care Instructions
To keep your coastal artwork looking its best, avoid prolonged direct sunlight and clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Acrylic surfaces should be wiped with a microfibre cloth only, while framed and canvas prints benefit from light dusting.
