Frescobaldi Gorgona Bianco 2023 75cl

From Frescobaldi, Gorgona Bianco 2023 is a Tuscan Vermentino produced in very small quantities on the island of Gorgona. This white wine combines the variety’s freshness and easy charm with added depth and richness, shaped by the island setting and its five hectares of vineyard.

The nose opens with lemon rind, beeswax and honey, before moving into nectarine, apricot, juicy mango, tangy clementine and a hint of caramelised maple syrup. On the palate, orange blossom honey, elderflower, apricot purée and lemon sorbet are carried by a rounded, sumptuous texture and a brisk, briny brightness that reflects its island origin.

About the producer

This wine is made on Europe’s only island prison, Gorgona, by inmates nearing the end of long sentences. Frescobaldi works with the Italian Justice Ministry to help prisoners develop skills and savings in preparation for life after release, and a number have gone on to careers in vine husbandry or wine production.
