From Gutermann, Maraflex is an elastic stretch sewing thread designed for flexible seams when using a straight stitch, delivering up to 80% seam stretch when sewn correctly. It is particularly well suited to dressmaking projects where comfort and movement matter, including sewing around necklines, tight seams, and sleeve and leg cuffs.

Produced using MCT (micro core technology), this high-quality thread is made from 100% polyester and supplied in colour 12 on a 150 metres spool. For best results, sew with as little thread tension as possible and use Maraflex as both needle and bobbin thread. Gutermann recommends 4 stitches per cm to achieve optimal seam elasticity. Suitable fabrics include light to mediumweight knitwear such as jersey, as well as light to medium weight elastic woven fabrics and fabrics containing elastane.

Care

Wash at 60 degrees. Bleach allowed. Tumble dry at medium temperature. Use a hot iron. Dry clean using any solvent except trichloroethylene.
