From Gutermann, Maraflex is an elastic stretch sewing thread designed for flexible seams using a straight stitch, with particularly high stretch of up to 80% when sewn correctly. It is a practical choice for dressmaking projects where comfort and movement matter, including sewing around necklines, close-fitting seams, and sleeve and leg cuffs.

Produced using MCT (micro core technology), this high quality thread is recommended for light to mediumweight knitwear such as jersey, as well as light to medium weight elastic woven fabrics and fabrics containing elastane. For best results, sew with as little thread tension as possible and use it as both needle and bobbin thread. Gutermann advises an optimal seam elasticity with 4 stitch/cm, and recommends a Jersey/Stretch needle in size 70/80.

Care

Wash at 60 degrees. Bleach allowed. Tumble dry at medium temperature. Use a hot iron. Dry clean using any solvent except trichloroethylene.
