Built at Ashford Works in March 1909, SE/CR No. 177 entered traffic at Bricklayers Arms before being renumbered A177 in 1924. This Hornby H Class 0-4-4T model represents locomotive 31177 in Early BR lined BR black, set for Era 4 (1948–1956).
Between January 1943 and August 1944, 1177 was on loan to the LMS, based at Forfar and working Arbroath local traffic. In May 1953, now numbered 31177, it received a push-pull motor, retaining it until withdrawal in October 1961. A considered choice for steam-era layouts, it is DCC ready and specified with a 5 pole skew wound motor.
