Hornby Mk4 DVT Transport for Wales 82226

Developed for the InterCity 225 sets on the East Coast Main Line, the Hornby Mk4 DVT Transport for Wales 82226 brings a distinctive Driving Van Trailer to a model railway collection. Mk4 stock entered service in 1989 and introduced a range of design changes over earlier coaching stock, including push-button operated plug-type doors and fully sealed gangways, with a design influenced by the Advanced Passenger Train.

Mk4 DVTs were built by Metro-Cammell, with bodyshell manufacture sub-contracted to Breda in Italy. Designed to operate with Class 91 locomotives, these vehicles have also worked with Class 90 and Class 89 locomotives, and have since been cascaded to other franchises including Transport for Wales. A considered choice for modern-era layouts, it offers an authentic way to represent later ECML operations and subsequent redeployments.
