A familiar sight on Britain’s railways for decades, the British Railways Mk1 coach is recreated here as an authentically replicated model railway coach from Hornby. Based on the Mk1 family introduced in 1951 and produced until 1963, this design became widely used across the national network and was built at multiple locations including Derby, Doncaster, Eastleigh, Swindon, Wolverton and York.
This example represents a Mk1 BCK (Brake Composite Corridor) layout, with seating arranged in compartments linked by a corridor along one side. It combines first- and second-class compartments and includes a dedicated brake compartment for equipment used to help brake the train. Finished as BR Departmental DB977351, it suits collectors and modellers looking to add a distinctive departmental vehicle to a period rake.
Please note: Colours shown are as accurate as possible, though may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
