Hornby Mk4 Standard/Kitchen Transport for Wales 10325

Introduced for the newly electrified East Coast Main Line, the Mk4 coach became a key part of modern British rail travel from 1989 onwards. This Hornby model recreates a Mk4 Standard/Kitchen coach in Transport for Wales livery, offering an authentic addition to a contemporary model railway fleet and a natural companion to other Mk4-era rolling stock.

The real Mk4 design brought notable advances over the Mk3, including push-button operated plug-type doors and fully sealed gangways, with a design influenced by the Advanced Passenger Train and provision for tilt up to 6°. Mk4 coaches later underwent the ‘Project Mallard’ refurbishment programme, which introduced new seating arrangements and onboard Wi‑Fi for the franchise operator at the time.
