Jemima the Pig and the 127 Acorns: World Book Day 2022 is written by Michael Morpurgo. This is a story for early readers and is presented as the first in the Farm Tales.

Synopsis

Written by Michael Morpurgo, co-founder of the charity Farms for City Children, this tale captures a week on a farm, with its mix of wonder, muck and everyday magic. It offers a view of the countryside and the lasting impression its landscape and animals can make.

A young boy travels from the city to stay on a farm, where he is kept busy with farm life and introduced to vegetable gardens, ducks and geese, grazing sheep, and an orchard of apples and pears. He meets Jemima the pig, described as the queen of the farm, and begins saving acorns in his pockets to feed her whenever he can. When Jemima starts to feel unwell, questions arise about what she has been eating and whether she may be hiding a secret.
