‘Put Your Foot Down’ is a unique and high-quality silk pocket square in red, white, blue & grey with hand-finished hem, inspired by the Mini Coopers in the original film of 'The Italian Job'. It was created in collaboration with pop artist Jonathan Aiken. Presented in a complimentary gift box. Made in England. Size 42cm x 42cm.

Design & Inspiration:

'Put Your Foot Down’ is a unique and high-quality full-size silk pocket square, Made in England. It was created in collaboration with Irish artist Jonathan Aiken, whose style was influenced by the Pop Art movement. Working on a variety of materials but always using layers of colour and texture, Jonathan's work draws on popular culture and visually reinterprets some of our most identifiable icons.

Created on two large steel sheets, Jonathan's original work was inspired by the Mini Cooper S getaway cars in ‘The Italian Job’, the Swinging Sixties caper movie. The film’s iconic status was not immediate, however its increasing popularity over time has helped cement the Mini Cooper as a cultural icon and immortalised much of the film’s dialogue.

Quality:

In Macclesfield, the traditional home of English silk printing, the artwork is reproduced with great care. This enables an excellent balance of design colour & clarity between the printed and reverse sides of the fine 16oz Mulberry silk twill, ensuring the pocket square looks perfect whichever fold is used. The image is framed by the pocket square’s off-white border and the skilfully hand-rolled & hand-sewn 'shoestring' hem in red and blue. The overall quality of this pocket square from the UK's leading maker is what you would normally expect to find only on London's Savile Row or Jermyn Street.

'Put Your Foot Down' is presented in a complimentary Otway & Orford branded gift box with its blueberry-coloured lid and pale blue base. Inside each box, this stylish Italian Job inspired silk pocket square is tissue-wrapped and accompanied by a card telling the story of the artist and his vibrant artwork.

Material Composition & Care

High-quality 100% Mulberry silk woven into 16oz silk twill gives the characteristic sheen and cool touch as well as ensuring the pocket square sits nicely in the top pocket.

Silk should always be dry cleaned. Avoid pressing the hand-finished hem to preserve its distinctive 'shoestring' shape.
