Synopses

Until You

A narrator describes years spent swinging between fury and indifference, feeling either numb or angry enough that violence seems satisfying. Their behaviour has left some people hating them and others afraid.

Falling Away

K. C. Carter is known for sticking to the rules, until a mistake makes her the subject of campus gossip. As her carefully planned life begins to unravel, she is drawn towards the one person she is meant to avoid.

Rival

Madoc and Fallon are estranged teenagers caught in games that blur the line between love and conflict. After three years away at boarding school, she returns with no word having been sent in the meantime.

Bully

Tate introduces herself and describes a boy who refuses to use her name, barely speaks to her, and yet will not leave her alone. The relationship is defined by his persistent presence and her frustration.

Five Brothers

On the other side of town are five brothers: Macon, Army, Iron, Dallas and Trace. The narrator sketches each one in turn, from the oldest who never smiles to the brother she hates, and another who “used to be mine”.

Misconduct

Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is focused on being the best teacher she can be, engaging bored students and trying to leave her past behind. A single parent-teacher meeting threatens to undo her efforts.

Pirate Girls

The narrator describes Kade and Hunter Caruthers as twin brothers and cousins who feel like family: protective, indulgent and close. As she grows older, an ever-present whisper reminds her they do not share any blood.

Falls Boys

Hawken Trent is described as polite, sweet and upstanding, with rumours that he is a virgin who never misbehaves with girls. He appears determined to play the hero by protecting another girl from the narrator.
