This eight-book collection brings together a sequence of mysteries featuring schoolgirl detectives Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong. Across the set, their investigations range from cases recorded in Hazel’s casebook to full-length adventures set at Deepdean School for Girls and beyond, including Cambridge, the Orient Express, Hong Kong and a London theatre.
Each story follows the pair as they piece together clues, question suspects and navigate shifting friendships while danger closes in. From unexplained disappearances and rumours of spies to secrets circulating around school and crimes that look like accidents, the Detective Society is repeatedly tested by puzzles that demand sharp observation and determination.
Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong have solved famous murder cases, but Hazel’s casebook holds more mysteries. The collection includes the Case of the Deepdean Vampire, the Case of the Blue Violet and their first investigation, the Case of Lavinia’s Missing Tie.
Back at Deepdean for a new term, Daisy and Hazel face major changes, including a new Head Girl and a group of bullying Prefects. After the Bonfire Night fireworks, the Head Girl is found murdered, and secrets and scandals begin appearing around the school. With their friendship under strain, the pair must work out who is responsible.
Daisy and Hazel take a holiday on the Orient Express, where their fellow first-class passengers all seem to be hiding something. Adding to the intrigue, there is rumour of a spy among them.
At Deepdean School for Girls, Daisy and Hazel set up a detective agency but struggle to find real crimes. When Hazel discovers the Science Mistress dead in the gym and the body then disappears, they must solve the case and prove a murder took place. They gather evidence, watch suspects and test whether their friendship can endure.
In snowy Cambridge, Daisy and Hazel plan a festive break among spires, libraries and tea-rooms. Their hopes are disrupted by danger in the dark stairwells of Maudlin College. Two days before Christmas, an incident that looks like an accident is revealed to be murder when the Detective Society investigates.
Wild storms trap everyone in Fallingford, keeping the police away and making the situation increasingly perilous. No one present is quite what they seem, and secrets are everywhere. When someone close to Daisy appears suspicious, the Detective Society must uncover the truth, whatever the consequences.
After Hazel Wong’s grandfather dies, Daisy accompanies her to the Wong family estate in Hong Kong. On arrival, they discover a new member of the family, baby Teddy, and soon find themselves drawn into another mystery. When tragedy strikes close to home, Hazel is framed for murder.
Following their time in Hong Kong, Hazel and Daisy head to the Rue Theatre in London to take on acting. Trouble builds through jealousy, threats and cruel pranks, until a body is found. The Detective Society must solve the crime before the murderer strikes again.
