Petromax Charcoal Maker

From Petromax, the Charcoal Maker brings the traditional craft of charcoal burning into a modern, stainless-steel canister designed for outdoor cooking. Using low-oxygen combustion (pyrolysis), it lets you produce your own charcoal directly in the fire—ideal when you are already cooking over flames, including beneath a Dutch Oven.

Fill the canister with chopped wood such as fruit wood, birch wood or beech wood, using both logs and twigs. Once sealed airtight with the cover, the charring process can be observed as yellow smoke develops and turns white towards the end. After removing it from the fire, allow it to cool overnight; by morning, you are left with charcoal ready for your next cookout. Cleaning is simple: wash the inside with mild detergent, water and a cloth.
