Shape Trilogy Collection 3 Books Set (Triangle, Square and Circle) by Mac Barnett gathers three stories starring Triangle, Square and Circle. The books focus on the shapes’ interactions, using familiar concept-book ideas and turning them on their head with a different point of view.

Across the collection, Triangle prepares a sneaky trick, Square concentrates on his daily job of moving a block, and Circle introduces a single rule during a game of hide-and-seek at the waterfall. The set is described as visually stunning, with wry humour and a perfectly paced approach.

Synopses

Triangle

Triangle decides to play a sneaky trick on his friend, Square. As the plan unfolds, it becomes clear Triangle may not be as in control as he believes. The story is described as visually stunning, with wry humour and a perfectly paced structure that rethinks the traditional concept book.

Square

Square spends each day pushing a block out of his cave and up a steep hill as part of his work. When Circle passes, she calls him a genius and a sculptor, admiring the statue and saying it looks just like him. She then asks for a sculpture of her own: a circle, leaving Square to find out whether he can make one, even by accident.

Circle

Triangle and Square visit Circle at the waterfall and the three play hide-and-seek. Circle sets one rule: nobody is to go behind the falling water. While Circle closes her eyes to count to ten, Triangle goes exactly where he has been told not to, raising the question of whether Circle will find him and what other shapes might be hidden there.
