Shockwave by Wilbur Smith is part of the Jack Courtney Adventures series. It follows an Arctic expedition framed as a film project connected to Jack’s mother’s environmental protection work.

Synopsis

On the pretext of making a film, Jack arranges a trip to the Arctic with his friends Amelia and Xander, along with his cousin Caleb. As Xander looks into the mysterious backers behind the journey, Jack begins to question what is really funding their adventure and whether a renewable energy investment company is as environmentally responsible as it claims.

The expedition includes dog sledding, ice fishing, snowmobile travel and a night spent in a self-made igloo, but a series of accidents disrupts their plans. Matters escalate when Caleb confronts a pack of wolves, leaving Jack to wonder whether his mother’s friend, Jonny Armfield, can be trusted to help, or whether he is connected to the wider problem.
