Synopses

Truckers

Hidden in plain sight, the nomes are tiny, stubborn and resourceful, living beneath the floorboards of a large department store and doubting that “Outside” even exists. New arrivals bring alarming news: the store is closing down, and “Everything Must Go”. It opens the trilogy with Pratchett’s characteristically comic perspective on survival and change.

Diggers

The nomes’ new home is a quarry, where their understanding of danger is shaped by stories of Jekub, the “Dragon in the Hill”. When humans threaten the quarry, hiding no longer feels like the only option, and the nomes decide to fight back. Their confidence is bolstered by the belief that nomes are faster and smarter than humans, and they have a secret weapon.

Wings

Life at four inches high rarely stays calm for long, and after trouble at the quarry the nomes want to go home. Home, however, is described as somewhere among the stars, connected to a Ship. Masklin sets out to reach the launch of a communications satellite, beginning a journey involving peril, planes, honking geese and a walking sandwich.
