The Kate Maryon Collection 5 Books Box Set brings together five novels by Kate Maryon, each centred on young protagonists facing change at home and in the wider world. The set includes stories of family pressures, uncertainty and the search for support, told through a range of voices and situations.

Across the collection, readers meet Tiff, whose mum Carla returns with “shiny new amazing stuff” that she has taken rather than bought; Liberty Parfitt, whose love of music clashes with her father’s expectations; and Jemima, sending “millions of guardian angels” to her dad while he is away with the Army. The set also includes a novel about Gabriella Midwinter, who “used to have a home”, and a story that begins with Maya living by the sea in Cornwall.

Synopses

Shine

Twelve-year-old Tiff loves her mum, Carla, who is glitzy, fun and always arriving home with shiny new things. The problem is that Carla does not buy them; she takes them. As the risk of being caught grows, Tiff is forced to face the truth about her mum.

Glitter

Liberty Parfitt believes there is more to life than exam results and earning money, but her super-rich, workaholic dad disagrees and dismisses her passion for music. When he loses his job and falls into deep depression, Liberty’s talent may be the one thing that can help him.

A Million Angels

Jemima’s dad is in the Army and is going to Afghanistan for six months. With her mum expecting another baby and Gran staying to help while dealing with her own wartime memories, Mima sends her dad millions of guardian angels each night. But she begins to wonder who is looking out for her.

The Invisible Girl

Gabriella Midwinter used to have a home, and she was not invisible then. Described as a new novel from the author of Shine, Glitter, Sea Of Stars and A Million Angels, it is recommended for fans of Cathy Cassidy and Jacqueline Wilson.

A Sea of Stars

Two girls with very different lives come together in a story of friendship and family. The novel introduces Maya, who has a cosy life with her slightly hippy mum and dad by the sea in Cornwall.
