A Victorian brooch (c1895-1900) shaped as a red admiral butterfly. This beautiful piece is set with rubies in the wing tips, three each wing 3.7mm each, and set with seven rose cut diamonds.
The rear wing is set with a cornflower blue sapphire 3.6mm each and five small rose cut diamonds. The head is a small ruby and the abdomen six seed pearls from 1.4 to 4mm. Tests as 9 carat gold and silver, no visible marks. Overall size 42x31mm, weight 12.3grams.
Fine overall condition, detachable brooch fittings.
