A vintage ring containing three cushion cut dark to mid blue sapphires . Centre stone 7x6mm (1.3 carat), each end 6x5mm (0.90 carats) set with four old brilliant cut white diamonds each 3mm (total 0.40 carats) colour H-i, clarity Si . (all stone sizes are approximate as in claw set settings)

Head 20x8mm, depth 4.6mm, weight 3.9grams. Period assumed 1920-1930, Art Deco, shank stamped 18CT, and tests as 18 carat white gold. No hallmark was required for this period.

The sapphires have been tested by GCS (Gem Laboratory) confirming total weight of 3.1 carats. Natural Corundum with NO indication of heat treatment (rare). Cert. Number 5782-2915. This makes this a rare and beautiful gem ring.

Original box- Goldsmiths & Silversmiths- Oxford Circus-London.The firm was established in 1880 by William Gibson (d. 1913) and John Lawrence Langman (1846-1928). The firm was active at 112 Regent Street, London acquiring the premises previously used by John Joseph Mechi. In 1893 the firm absorbed The Goldsmiths' Alliance Ltd (late A.B. Savory & Sons) and in 1898 became the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd being active as jewellers, dealers in diamonds and precious stones, silversmiths, electroplaters and watch and clock makers.

In 1952 Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd was amalgamated with Garrard & Co Ltd.

The firm participated to a number of national and international exhibitions, such as Indian and Colonial Exhibition (London, 1886)
