A colour change synthetic alexandrite dress ring. This large stone has a diameter of 14mm, depth 8mm. Claw set into a 9 carat gold mount. Tests as same, and shank stamped as 9CT.
No hallmarks as period estimated at 1950-1960, so not legally required. Weight 5grams. Nearly all alexandrite stones are synthetic and created from corundum. They still have the lovely colour change, vibrant purple in artificial light to a dusky blue in natural light. A real alexandrite is around £700 a carat, so this ring represents wonderful value if you want a ring that gives the same colour change appeal atb a fraction of the cost.
