About Wild Root

Wild Root was founded by Charlie, who went vegan in 2014 and discovered a love of cooking that the shop-bought options at the time simply could not satisfy. What began as a handful of homemade recipes grew into an independent brand built on a simple belief: that plant-based food should taste genuinely good while being good for you, made honestly from real ingredients with no shortcuts.

The brand developed and tested its products through the Wild Root café and catering service in rural Halsall, near Liverpool, where its ferments and pickles continue to be made and enjoyed today. Wild Root places real value on how its food is made and where its ingredients come from, working only with suppliers whose ethics align with its own. Its cashew cheese, for example, is made with cashews from a supplier that has created hundreds of jobs in Goa and funds local health and education projects.
