Synopses

Hansel and Gretel

A Brothers Grimm fairytale described as one of the darkest and greatest. This edition presents the classic childhood tale for a new generation, illustrated by Anthony Browne.

Into the Forest

A boy is woken by a terrible sound as a storm breaks and lightning flashes across the sky. By morning his dad is gone, and his mum does not seem to know when he will return. The next day she asks her son to take a cake to his sick grandma.

Little Beauty

A gorilla is taught sign language and appears to have everything he needs, until he signs that he is sad and wants a friend. His keepers bring him a tiny cat called Beauty, and the pair become inseparable. When the gorilla gets angry and damages the TV, his keepers question whether he is unfit to be friends with such a small animal.

Gorilla

Hannah loves gorillas but has never seen one, and her father is too busy to take her to the zoo. For her birthday she asks for a gorilla, but is disappointed to receive a toy. Then something extraordinary happens.

Silly Billy

Billy worries about many things, from hats and shoes to clouds, rain and giant birds. He worries most about staying at other people’s houses, and his parents cannot stop the worries. A visit to his grandma shows him another way, using imagination and tiny worry dolls.

The Tunnel

A picture book about sibling relations, featuring a brother and sister who are complete opposites and constantly argue. One day they discover the tunnel.
