Treatment & maintenance

Corten steel develops a protective rust layer when first exposed to atmospheric conditions, so painting is not required. The gate is supplied before this weathered finish has fully developed and will arrive in a normal metal colour. Rust will form over time; this process can be accelerated by spraying the surface with soap water and salt water. Avoid contact with the developing rust layer to help prevent staining on clothing.
