From Bodega Cerron, La Calera del Escaramujo Monastrell 2023 is a red wine shaped by old ungrafted vines and a high-altitude site. Drawn from a 167-hectare Monastrell vineyard at 900 to 960 metres, it combines concentration with notable balance and freshness.

The vineyard had lain abandoned for 20 years because of its steep slopes and difficult access before Juanjo and Carlos Cerdan began restoring it to production in 2011. The wine shows a vivid ruby colour and an intense, fresh aromatic profile, with a supple fruit character and a more developed texture already making it approachable.

About the vineyard

La Calera del Escaramujo comes from a steeply sloped vineyard that had been abandoned for 20 years due to difficult access and the complexity of cultivation. Juanjo and Carlos Cerdan began bringing the site back into production in 2011 in recognition of its potential.
