Boschendal 1685 Shiraz Western Cape 2020

From Boschendal, the 1685 Shiraz Western Cape 2020 is a red wine crafted from grapes sourced across Stellenbosch, Elgin and the Swartland. High-quality vineyard sites were selected for their varied soils, each chosen for the distinct contribution it brings to the final blend. The vineyards were hand-harvested in early March, with bunches sorted in the vineyard so only the best fruit reached the winery.

Aromatically, it opens with dark berries including cherries, mulberries and plum, layered with exotic oak spice and a cool-climate pepper note. The palate follows with generous, deep black fruit and a riper vintage fruit expression, balanced by pepper spice. Rich and juicy in character, it shows a round, integrated fruit core and silky, ripe tannins, finishing with elegant freshness, length and lingering fruit.

With soft, ripe tannins providing fullness and richness, this Shiraz is described as exceptionally easy to drink while retaining the structure to support at least five years in bottle. Alcohol by volume: 14%.
