Sharper contrast under brightened skies makes the Celestron UHC/LPR Filter a particularly useful addition to a 2-inch telescope setup. This telescope filter is made to reduce the transmission of selected wavelengths associated with artificial lighting, including mercury vapour and both high and low pressure sodium vapour lights, while also limiting unwanted natural sky glow caused by neutral oxygen emission in the atmosphere.

Its ultra high contrast light pollution reduction design gives a darker sky background than typical broadband filters and improves the visibility of emission nebulae. Advanced coatings deliver over 97% transmission across the full bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. The 60nm passband preserves a more natural-looking view while increasing overall contrast, and the efficient H-Alpha passband at 656nm also makes it relevant for imaging. Plasma-assisted, Ionbeam-hardened multi-layer dielectric coatings add durability and resistance to scratching.
