Synopsis

Yoai introduces the essentials of chibi drawing, beginning with body and face proportions before moving on to hairstyles designed to stand out on the page. Guidance also covers multicoloured chibi eyes, with attention to shines and shapes, followed by clear, step-by-step illustrations and instructions for creating a range of chibi-style characters.

Alongside the tutorials, galleries of hairstyles, eye shapes, props, outfits and accessories offer visual prompts for customising your own designs. Readers are encouraged to practise the author’s colouring and shading techniques while developing a personal approach to chibi art; the focus is on manga and comic art.
