Synopsis

Designed to make the earliest stages of drawing feel manageable, Civardi explains how to place a grid over a photograph or drawing and transfer the image to your paper one square at a time, building an accurate outline before refining it. The book opens with a clear overview of basic human anatomy and core drawing techniques, then develops the method through practical examples.

Inside you’ll find over 90 outlines of people across a range of ages, profiles and poses, alongside guidance on adding shading and tonal effects to create more finished results. The content draws on material from Drawing Using Grids: Portraits with Character and Drawing Using Grids: Portraits of Babies & Children, making it a focused choice for beginners looking to practise figure and portrait drawing from photographic reference.
