Cramele Recas La Stejari Merlot Unfiltered Vegan Red Wine

From Cramele Recas in Banat, La Stejari Merlot 2020 is a dry red wine made from Merlot, bottled at 14.5% ABV. Produced from hand-harvested grapes grown on predominantly limestone soils, it was vinified in stainless steel with 10 days of maceration, then aged for 12 months in new French oak barriques before a further 10 months of bottle maturation.

This unfiltered release opens with a reserved character, then develops with aeration to show violet and forest berry aromas, including blackberry, blueberry and raspberry. Notes of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg sit alongside a dense, concentrated palate, elegant tannins and a firm structure. Suitable for cellaring for at least 10 years, it pairs well with duck and lamb dishes, young to semi-mature cheeses, savoury tarts and pastries, and desserts with dark chocolate and sweet spices.

Nose
