The Saga of Larten Crepsley is a four-book collection by Darren Shan, returning to the life story of the vampire Larten Crepsley. Told as an epic, blood-soaked saga, it follows Larten from his early years through events that span centuries and continents, including sea voyages, murder, war and love.

Beginning with a young Larten forced to flee his home, the series traces his introduction to the vampire clan and the choices that shape what kind of vampire he will become. Across the set, he is tested by loyalty, isolation and violence, while facing enemies and betrayals that threaten both his place in vampire society and those closest to him.

Synopses

Birth of a Killer

When terrible events force young Larten Crepsley to flee his home, he finds himself alone in the world. A meeting with the mysterious Seba Nile introduces him to the ways of the vampire clan, and to a life from which there may be no return.

Ocean of Blood

Free from their mentor Seba Nile, Larten Crepsley and Wester Flack join the Cubs, wild young vampires with little respect for human life. Far from the Vampire Mountain and its rules, Larten must decide whether to stay true to his master and principles, or lose himself in blood.

Palace of the Damned

Lost in the arctic waste and carrying a baby, Larten faces the darkest time he has ever known. As hope appears in unexpected ways, he confronts the violence of his youth and the damage it can cause to those he loves, while questioning whether he can save his own soul.

Brother to the Death

As Larten finds a new place in vampire society and tries to help vampires escape the Nazi menace, tragedy strikes his family through the nefarious Vampaneze. With Wester calling for war, Larten becomes a figurehead of the campaign, but darker forces stir and a final betrayal looms.
