Dave Pigeon is a five-book set by Swapna Haddow, following Dave and his side-kick Skipper through a series of comic misadventures. The collection opens with a playful introduction written in “Pigeonese”, with a tongue-in-cheek warning aimed at any cats who might be trying to read along.

Across the set, Dave and Skipper face everyday dramas and bigger escapades, from a sudden shortage of food when their Human Lady goes on “holiday”, to a trip in a box to Pawsville Vets. Their travels also take them to London, where they peck around the Royal Palace gates and meet Prince Raju Pigeon from the Royal Lofts. Back at the garden shed, an unexpected wave of kittens brings fresh chaos, and Dave is not impressed.

Synopses

Dave Pigeon returns with Skipper, but trouble starts when their Human Lady leaves on a “holiday” and their food supply runs out. With biscuits on their minds, they search for a new owner and encounter Reginald Grimster.

Dave and Skipper travel in a box to Pawsville Vets, where Dave hopes his broken wing might finally be fixed. At the pet shop they meet new friends, including Jet the dog, and Cricket Ball Face the hamster, and a race brings some friendly competition.

In London, Dave and Skipper explore near the Royal Palace gates in search of high-brow snacks. They meet Prince Raju Pigeon from the Royal Lofts, who is tired of royal life and wants to see beyond the palace gates.

Dave Pigeon (Kittens!)

While in the garden shed, Dave and Skipper notice Mean Cat acting strangely, and she seems to be multiplying. The arrival of kittens is disastrous news for Dave, who is unimpressed by the prospect of even more cats.
