For masonry fixing into concrete, brick or stone, this Fixaball heavy duty shield anchor combines an M8 threaded loose hex bolt with a masonry shield. It has a zinc finish and a high tensile 8.8 grade construction, with dimensions and installation values provided for accurate selection and fitting.

Suitable where a shield anchor fixing is required through the material being fixed, this version uses a 14mm hole size and is offered in options with maximum fixing thicknesses of 10mm, 25mm or 40mm. All stated performance figures apply with correct installation.

Key features

  • M8 thread diameter
  • Zinc finish
  • High tensile 8.8
  • Suitable for concrete, brick and stone
  • 14mm shield hole size
  • Maximum fixing thickness options: 10mm, 25mm or 40mm

Specifications

  • Hole diameter: 14
  • Hole depth: 55
  • Fixture/material clearance hole: 9–10
  • Centre spacing between holes: 150
  • Minimum distance from edge of material: 100
  • Tensile/pull load: 4.8 k/N (tonnes)
  • Shear load: 4.4 k/N (tonnes)
  • Torque to tighten: 15 Nm
  • Socket size guide: M8 - 15mm spanner

Safety information

  • Drill holes to the stated minimum depth and diameter.
  • Keep holes square to the surface of the base material during installation.
  • If rebar is encountered when drilling concrete, stop drilling, repair the hole with high quality mortar and create a new hole no less than twice the diameter of the shield anchor away.
  • Clean the hole with an appropriately sized brush before fitting.
  • At 0, make sure water does not seep into the hole, as expansion from water to ice could crack the concrete.
  • Under wet conditions, use a specified injection resin.
  • Insert the anchor through the material being fixed and into the hole up to the embedment depth shown in the table.
  • Do not apply any intermediate layer between the material being fixed and the washer, including sealing products.
  • Apply the specified torque with a torque wrench.
  • If the holes in the material being fixed are larger than required, a thicker washer of larger diameter is necessary. This does not ensure correct distribution of shear loads amongst all anchors in the same group, and the shear load is applied only to anchors with a correct diameter on the material being fixed.
