Helen Dexter Cosy Crime Mysteries is a two-book set by Glenda Young, set in the Yorkshire seaside town of Scarborough. The series follows Helen Dexter as she takes on life as the sole proprietor of the Seaview Hotel after the death of her husband, Tom, while trying to safeguard the hotel’s future.
Across both mysteries, unsettling incidents place Helen’s business and personal safety under pressure. With her greyhound, Suki, close by, she pays careful attention to the guests at the Seaview and the tensions around them, determined to find out who is responsible when murder strikes close to home.
Helen Dexter weighs up her future at the Seaview Hotel when a developer makes an offer for the business. A booking from twelve Elvis impersonators, known as Twelvis, seems to point her towards staying, but a run of troubling events suggests someone is determined to force her hand. When one of the group disappears and is later found dead, Helen begins asking questions before the killer strikes again.
As Helen settles into a new chapter running the Seaview Hotel, an acting troupe arrives to rehearse a play intended to save a theatre from closure. Friction within the group soon intensifies, and the troupe’s leading lady is found dead. While Helen becomes involved in helping with the performance, she also faces threatening phone calls, vandalism to her car, and news of an impending hotel inspection, as she works to identify the killer.
